Love/Hate Technology

I love and hate technology!  I spend a lot of time with technology and most days it’s a joy to use, but others it’s an absolute nightmare.  With this site, I hope to share my experiences with technology with tutorials and reviews ranging from web design, software, and hardware.  Also giving my own opinions along the way.

Me

Hi, my name is Peter Bockenhauer. I am Technical Lead with Westwords Consulting. I build websites with WordPress and support clients with any technical needs they have ranging from hardware, software, networking, and telephony.

It probably all started when I first used an Apple II back in elementary school. After that I was hooked. I loved how I was able to make the computer do things and there was that immediate satisfaction.

In 1996, I created my first website on America Online’s free home page service.  Being able to code a web page and put it online was so interesting to me.  Just knowing that anyone in the world could view what I had created was such a cool thing for me.  After that I would redesign my personal website every couple weeks (sometimes every couple days).  I took some high school classes on technology, web design and photography.  I decided I wanted to pursue something with technology in college, so I took graphic design.

Out of college I had a short stint of doing graphic design, but a job in IT landed in my lap.  After that another IT position that I stayed at for 6 years.  I love being able to help people and fix tech when it breaks, so it was a good fit.  All the while I was always working on my own, family or client websites.

At the start of 2010 I was able to leave my full-time position in IT to work at Westwords Consulting.  Now I am able to combine my creative side and technical side and still create things and help people solve problems.
